John Tesh

Teacher of the Week

Michael Troyer
Denver High School

Michael Troyer

Week of December 16, 2013
Nominated by Madison Neisen

"In the years that I have been in school I have never had a teacher as creative, enthusiastic, and as talented as Mr. Troyer. When I first started my sophomore year I was not too thrilled about having to take World History to pass high school. Little to my knowledge this would become my favorite class and that Mr. Troyer would become my favorite teacher that ever walked the hallways of Denver Community Schools. There are many teachers that I have had that aren’t good teachers but as a person they are very nice. I have also met teachers that are wonderful at teaching but you dread going into class for fear of the teacher that resembles something from The Black Lagoon books. Mr. Troyer is not only one of the funniest and nicest people I have met, but he is a fantastic teacher! I look forward everyday to sitting in eighth hour and listening to him lecture. Taking notes and listening to a teacher talk has never been so enjoyable. There is not a student in this school who does not admire, respect, and enjoy him. There are many upperclassmen who still remember what they learned from his classes. Mr. Troyer is a teacher that genuinely cares for his students and their individual learning processes. He is a teacher who actually teaches instead of just handing out homework. There are certain people in this world who God meant to work with teenagers and be a teacher, Mr. Troyer greatly shows that gift. Mr. Troyer displays such a passion when he teaches history I wish more people could experience the way he explains Roman History and the Mayans. There is no one more deserving of this award."
