Pathways Behavioral Services to Host Free Trainings for Children’s Mental Health Week Pathways Behavioral Services to Host Free Trainings for Children’s Mental Health Week

Children’s Mental Health Awareness is May 5 thru May 11, 2013. Pathways Behavioral Services will be honoring this by hosting 5 free trainings on children’s mental health issues.   “Identifying a mental health issue early is key to reducing the impact of the mental health problem on the child.” says Chris Hoffman, Executive Director of Pathways Behavioral Services. “We hope by hosting these trainings, we will build awareness of the importance of recognizing children’s mental health issues and reduce the impact of mental illness on our communities.” The trainings will take place in Waverly. Following is a list of trainings, dates, and locations:

Monday, May 6: Kathy Dubois, Licensed Mental Health Counselor will present “Response to Traumatic Events” from 12pm to 1pm at the Pathways’ Waverly Office (111 10th Street, Waverly) (Lunch will be provided and sponsored by Jerry Roling Motors).
Tuesday, May 7: Dr. Javed, Child Psychiatrist, will present “Biopsychosocial Model for Assessment of a Child” from 6pm to 7pm in the Tendrils Rooftop Garden Room in the Waverly Hospital.
Wednesday, May 8: Annemarie Goldhorn, Olweus Bullying Prevention Program Trainer and Consultant will present “Bullying” from 4pm to 5pm in the Waverly room at the Waverly Public Library. (Snack will be provided).
Thursday, May 9: Scott Dickinson, Licensed Mental Health Counselor will present “Managing Anger” from 4pm to 5pm at the Waverly Middle School.
Friday, May 10: Wendy Kepford, Licensed Independent Social Worker, Polly Primus and Christina Hussey, both Licensed Masters Social Workers will present “Benefits of Play Therapy” from 12pm to 1pm at the Pathways’ Waverly Office. (Bring your own lunch).

All presentations are free of charge.    To register for these presentation please call Pathways at 319-352-2064 at least 24 hours before the presentation.
