Black Hawk Co. Supervisors Reject Veterans Burial Aid Request
Earlier this week, the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors unanimously rejected a request from the county’s Veterans Affairs Commission to increase financial assistance for burial of veterans whose families don’t have the financial resources for a proper burial. The proposal was to increase the allowance for a regular burial from $1500 to $2500, with the total amount of assistance not to go over $3500. Supervisor Chair John Miller said it was best to leave the assistance levels where they are.
